Explaining the Oil Guard System by Vanguard
The oil guard system from Vanguard is a commercial lawn mowing company's dream! EXCLUSIVELY offered only through Briggs & Stratton and Ferris Commercial Mowers, this new oil system allows the owner to quintuple the interval between oil changes. That is 5 times longer than normal mowers in the same class. Instead of changing oil every 100 hours for normal maintenance, you can now change it every 500 hours! Think about it, a commercial mowing outfit who runs their mowers 10 to 12 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week has to change oil every week or two. With the new oil guard system from Vanguard that same landscaper can now go perhaps a month or two between oil changes. How awesome is that? Saving you one of the most important and overlooked things, time. Remember, this system is EXCLUSIVE with Ferris mowers only, which we have in stock everyday!
How does it work? Believe it or not, the engine does NOT have an oil pan. A separate 5 quart reservoir tank is mounted along side the engine with hoses running to the oil pump, instead of the normal 2 quarts of oil (approximately) that engines usually have. This new reservoir system also allows for a much easier oil change, which is great for you if you change your own oil, and it's also good for you when you hit the dealership because it will be easier for us! Why is that important? Typical engines with an oil pan in a ZTR frame are hard to get to the drain plug and oil filter. They typically need to be put on the lift and tilted to be thoroughly drained.
